The Brivo DEI Committee has been hard at work over the past few months. Since our last post, we\u2019ve hosted successful sessions internally celebrating International Women\u2019s Day and Pride month and hosted a series of educational sessions on financial wellness for our Shades of Brivo Employee Resource Group. While those events were great and beneficial for our existing Brivo employees, Brivo continues to focus on supporting the next wave of talent near Brivo HQ in the Washington, D.C., area.<\/p>\n
Brivo is excited to announce the Brivo NextGen Scholarship Program<\/a> to underrepresented students enrolled in marketing, engineering, or business programs interested in the security industry at local universities, Hispanic Serving Institutions, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU).<\/p>\n \u201cDiversity in the security industry is a societal and business imperative because cyber and physical security impacts every one of us,\u201d said Steve Van Till, founder, and CEO of Brivo. \u201cWe look forward to helping underrepresented students build careers in the security industry and hope the NextGen Scholarship Program plays an impactful role fueling positive change.\u201d<\/p>\n The program will be open to students continuing or re-enrolling at community colleges or undergraduate 4-year institutions and award $2,500 scholarships to two students furthering their education at the following schools:<\/p>\n Each awardee can use the funds to continue their education courses or purchase materials required for their upcoming classes through this scholarship. The deadline to apply for the scholarship is August 31, 2021, and scholarships will be awarded and announced on September 27, 2021.<\/p>\n In addition to the launch of the NextGen Scholarship program, Brivo has also extended eight internship opportunities to students in the area over the spring and summer months. These students range from undergraduate, recent graduates, and MBA students in various roles from data science, marketing, and software engineering, among others. One intern, Catherine Baird, has since accepted an offer to work full-time as a software engineer at Brivo.<\/span><\/p>\n Brivo remains committed to opening doors to students who excel and want to continue to learn about the security and technology industry by offering employment opportunities whenever possible.
