"EEAUSTIN, Texas, February 20, 2015 – Eagle Eye Networks, Inc., today announced that the Eagle Eye Cloud Security Camera Video Management System (VMS) has been used to secure and monitor testing for the $2M Wendy Schmidt Ocean Health XPRIZE, a global competition to create pH sensor technology that will affordably and accurately measure ocean acidification.

The first testing phase of the competition included a rigorous three-month trial in controlled laboratory conditions at the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute, focused on accuracy and stability. Multiple security cameras were utilized in different areas of their tank facility, above and below water, to ensure the precision of the testing process.

“Because testing for the Wendy Schmidt Ocean Health XPRIZE takes place far from home, it’s very important to be able to remotely monitor what’s going on. I appreciate the ease with which the Eagle Eye system allows me to use time and motion as a guide to easily sift through relevant video segments,” said Jyotika Virmani, director of technical operations, Wendy Schmidt Ocean Health XPRIZE. “The image clarity provided by Eagle Eye’s camera system was also impressive, especially given that we are looking through 40 feet of ocean water to view the pH sensors being tested.”

“It is rewarding to see Eagle Eye Networks’ technology used for the Wendy Schmidt Ocean Health XPRIZE—such a worthy cause that directly supports the health of our planet,” said Dean Drako, President and CEO, Eagle Eye Networks. “In particular, the availability of live streaming video can be an effective way to raise public awareness of this important issue.”
