Market Spotlight - Property Management

Property managers have special access control needs that are a perfect fit for Brivo’s ACS WebServiceTM. For one thing, it fits their model of charging tenants for services—ACS WebService fees average out to virtually pennies per square inch. ACS WebService also provides these benefits that property managers love:

  • No dedicated PC needed—the property manager and tenants administer the system with a Web browser
  • No need to set up network infrastructure—Internet access is all that’s needed
  • Tiered administration allows them to provide “self-service” access control for tenants
  • Easy, intuitive Web interface—no complicated software to install and learn
  • Email notifications—improved crisis response and monitoring
  • DVR integration—view live and event-related video
  • Browser-based access—no more running between properties or making late-night trips to deal with access issues

Property managers see the power of ACS WebService almost immediately. Read more about our Property Management solutions, and be sure to set up demos for each and every property manager you find yourself in front of. Seeing is believing!

Success Story
Grubb Properties

Grubb Properties is a developer and manager of commercial real estate in the Charlotte and Triangle (Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Cary) markets of North Carolina. Facilities manager Bill Burgess was looking to replace their old access control system, which required manual archiving each month and worked erratically. According to Burgess, “we just generally had problems.” Burgess knew what they didn’t want.

ASG, formerly known as Matrix Security Group, was called upon to help. Brivo ACS WebService was a perfect solution. Grubb liked that they did not need to buy software or manage backups and other IT issues. The regular monthly fee was easy to budget for, and they found the system very easy to operate.

There are no more keys to hassle with, and tenants now have 24-hour access to their offices. Instead of paying someone to patrol the building and relying on cleaning staff to lock up, Burgess and his staff can do all of that automatically from any Web browser—from home or other facilities. Burgess estimates that with the reduction in man hours needed and the added convenience and efficiency, the system has probably already paid for itself.

Brivo's OnSite SETM Wins Two SIA New Product Showcase Awards

We already knew OnSite SE was a winner, and now the word's out! OnSite SE was honored by the Security Industry Association (SIA) during ISC West with two New Product Showcase (NPS) awards. One award was for the Integrated Software and Systems category, while the other was a Judge's Choice Award for Commercial Systems. Brivo is the only company to have won two awards. Read more about the awards.

OnSite SE is a powerful IT “appliance”-based access control solution. Like Brivo's other offerings, it requires no software to be installed, enabling administrators to manage the system via a user-friendly, intuitive Web-based interface with any standard Web browser. OnSite SE allows organizations to keep their data within their own network. It is proving an especially popular option with government agencies and in the education vertical. New People, New Places

Brivo recently announced more staff changes as well as an expansion of our headquarters office space. Due to our steady growth over the past several years, we’ve created a new Central region, bringing us to nine North American regions. If you are located in Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virginia, or Western Pennsylvania, you have probably already heard from Chris Gilbert, our new Regional Sales Manager.

Besides the new region, further growth in our sales department brought Dave Williams, formerly Director of National Accounts, to the new position of Vice President of North American Sales. Filling his role in national accounts is Ethan Lewis, who brings more than 20 years of experience to Brivo. And our Southeast region has been taking off under the direction of Landon Hunsucker, Regional Sales Manager, who came on board in late 2007.

Last but not least, our headquarters office has expanded too! Our Technical Support specialists have settled into a new Customer Care Center, also located at Bethesda Towers in Bethesda, Maryland.

Total Cost of Ownership Study Shows Savings of ACS WebService

You already know the “no software, no servers, no hassles” line, and it’s a good one. How’s this for another one: “No huge up-front fees and expenses, no recurring operational expenses, no recurring IT expenses.” OK, it’s not very catchy, but as part of our recent Total Cost of Ownership study, it tells a compelling story.

Our Total Cost of Ownership white paper lays out the entire study. Use the information to demonstrate to your customers why a monthly recurring fee can be a better choice. When you uncover for your customers the hidden expenses of owning a traditional access control system, you will find many of them grateful for the eye-opener.

Brivo Employee Spotlight – Mike Cartee

Mike Cartee, Eastern Technical Field Manager, is based just north of Atlanta in Marietta, GA. Mike joined Brivo in 2004, bringing over 28 years of experience in managing system and equipment technologies. Mike says what he enjoys most about Brivo is the combination of “great equipment, advanced operating system architecture, and last but not least, the chance to work with a dedicated group of folks committed to creating excellent products and services.”

Mike and his wife Peggy have been married for 37 years and have two grown daughters.  “We thought life would slow down a bit as we got older. Not true! Between spending time with our granddaughter, traveling, and planning our youngest daughter’s wedding, we’re staying as busy as ever.”

Feature Spotlight - OnSite SETM  Badge Design and Printing

Badging capabilities are available on OnSite SE systems with firmware version 2.0.1 or greater. The robust and easy-to-use badging interface, like other Brivo products, requires no additional software to load, so there's no concerns about operating systems, licenses, or PC upgrades.

Badge templates let users easily design custom badges with several options, including orientation of the badge, background color and images, and use of standard and custom fields. Designing the layout requires simply dragging and dropping fields onto the template.

Printing a badge is as easy as selecting a user, and then choosing the template to be used. The user information populates the template and the badge is ready to print!
