Market Spotlight - Education

Education institutions must protect students without hampering their movement and creating a prison-like school. The right access control system gives school administrators the flexibility to implement their own unique plans for access and maintains its integrity across departments, school years, and facilities. Brivo's access control systems let administrators accomplish this and more, with:

  • No dedicated computers and no software to buy, install, and maintain—use any standard Web browser on a PC or a Mac
  • Lockdown functionality revokes access privileges with the click of a mouse
  • Notifications sent to email or cell phone keep security officers and administrators informed about user activity, doors accesses, power outages, and more
  • Set credentials to expire ensures that guests and contractor credentials expire when visit or job is complete
  • DVR integration leverages CCTV systems to view specific events or even watch live video

Schools have enough to keep them busy; access control shouldn't be one of them. Brivo's system gives school officials the flexibility and control they need at a price that fits nearly any budget. Learn more about Brivo's solutions for Education.

Success Story
St. John's College High School

St. John's College High School covers a 27-acre campus in Washington, DC. When the preparatory school needed to replace their standard lock and key system, they called upon eVigilant of Arlington, VA, for help.

St. John's needed a flexible system to cover multiple buildings and tiered administration to ensure specific administrators could control only certain portions of the system; they also wanted to avoid having to install software, so a Web-based system was a must. eVigilant immediately introduced them to Brivo, and on seeing the demo, they knew they'd found their system.

Specifically, St. John's chose Brivo's new OnSite SE access control system. It allows St. John's to keep their student data within their own network, but still control access to multiple facilities. The initial installation in the athletic facility easily handled the many different coaching staffs, allowing the athletic director to control doors from his office and track access to the facility.  The tiered administration allows school executives to limit control of specific areas to the appropriate faculty, while still maintaining control of the complete system.

Health and Fitness Clubs—Your Next Target

Make a trip to the gym! You can leave your workout clothes at home, though, this one's purely business. Like any business, fitness centers prefer to focus on their core competencies, so companies like eFit Financial provide services for billing, collections, member contract management, and more. Now add access control to the mix.

A member hasn't paid his dues? His credentials can be automatically revoked. A new member joins? Credentials are automatically assigned based on the new contract. Automatic billing and single point of data entry are just two of the many benefits fitness centers can reap with eFit Financial.

The solution was made possible using Brivo's XML Application Programming Interface (API). The XML API enables the integration of the eFit software with the club's Brivo access control system. Since the Brivo XML API works on all of Brivo's access control systems, clubs can choose the system that's right for them.

But even better, XML works to integrate many types of software with Brivo systems. Think about the systems used by your customers—human resources databases, parking control, online reservation systems. All of these are candidates for integration with Brivo access control systems.

Visit www.efitfinancial.com for more information on eFit Financial. To learn more about XML, download our XML whitepaper, or contact the Brivo engineering support team.

Take Advantage of OnSite SE™ Online Training

The new OnSite SE online training course has been a hit so far. The course, launched late last year, is designed to educate installers on the installation, operation, and configuration of the OnSite SE product. The Web-based course is self-paced, accommodating busy schedules and eliminating travel expenses.

The training course is available only to authorized Brivo dealers, and if you're selling OnSite SE, the course is a must. And if you're not selling OnSite SE, you're missing out! The new appliance has opened doors for many Brivo Dealers, particularly with customers that have multiple facilities and require their data to be stored on-site. Government agencies, research and development labs, healthcare institutions, and education facilities are just a few of the verticals where OnSite SE is a perfect fit.

To get started, complete the online registration form. After approval, you will receive a confirmation email that includes your registration details and login credentials.

For additional information about the OnSite SE Online Training Course, please contact training@brivo.com. Or, learn more about OnSite SE or request an online product demonstration.

2008 Brivo Dealer Survey Kicks Off

Brivo is committed to its Authorized Dealers, and to make sure that we're providing the right resources, we're going straight to the source! Brivo Dealers and their representatives are being invited to take the 2008 Brivo Authorized Dealer Survey and upon completion, may select a small gift as a thank you for their time.

The survey takes less than 10 minutes to complete, but the feedback we receive will be used throughout the year to make the Brivo Authorized Dealer program even more valuable. If you are an Authorized Brivo Dealer, you can complete the survey online or print a copy to return by fax or mail.

Brivo Employee Spotlight – Larry Wile

Larry Wile joined Brivo in October 2006 as a Technical Support Specialist. As part of the Technical Support team, he makes sure that the questions of both our dealers and end users are answered, helping them with anything from resetting passwords to programming multiple sites and control panels. Additionally, Larry has been working on scripting answers for the upcoming Technical Support FAQ.

In his free time, Larry designs games, reads voraciously, and loves trying out new restaurants and cuisines.

Feature Spotlight - OnSite Dashboard

ACS OnSite and OnSite SE provide a powerful and convenient Dashboard that lets users perform common tasks and see important data—all on one screen.

The activity log shows at a glance what is happening on the system, while the Device and Hardware status tabs provide not only a quick view of the status of the devices and hardware on the system, but enables some useful actions as well.

Administrators can "buzz" people in (using the "Pulse" button) and engage or disengage set schedules. For example, if the organization is closing early due to weather emergency, the system administrator can use the "Lock Early" button to override the current schedule. When the next schedule activates, the door will unlock as scheduled.

There is also the option to "Latch" and "Unlatch" doors. This lets the administrator keep the door locked, even when the next unlock schedule commences. This provides administrators with easy control over all of the devices—all from one easy interface.
