Market Spotlight - Hospitality

The hospitality industry has long understood the necessity of ensuring peace of mind for guests and safety for employees, and securing property and perimeters is just part of the hospitality industry's concern. And while beds and food are hotels' core competencies; parking is not; as a result, parking management is often overlooked. Brivo's online access control systems can help.

  • Maximize the potential of common-area amenities. Go beyond controlling access and monitoring usage; Brivo's new OnPark™ online parking reservation system ensures the highest level of guest service while maximizing parking revenues. The system can also be applied to other amenities such as spas, pools, and fitness areas.
  • Administer the system centrally and remotely. The Web-based architecture provides remote administration for property managers and rental agencies. With Brivo, reservations and credentials can be managed from anywhere over the Web.
    Improve incident awareness and response. Receive immediate incident notifications of doors left open, unauthorized access attempts, and other system events via text messaging and email.
  • Set credentials to expire based on check-out dates, eliminating the return of prior guests trying to use parking garages or other facilities.
  • Reduce employee and vendor theft. Eliminate unauthorized access to high-value assets, such as audio-visual equipment for meeting rooms, while creating a digital record of all system events.

Success Story
The Village at Breckenridge, Breckenridge, CO

The Village at Breckenridge, Colorado (The Village) is a resort development comprising 235 residential and 28 commercial units. Nineteen different entities that include both professional property management firms and individual owners rent out the various units throughout the year. Parking spaces are at a premium, and agents renting out units could not guarantee a reserved parking space for guests.

Neal Marcus of Securus introduced The Village to Brivo's XML API technology, which allows different systems to exchange data in the XML standard so they can "understand" one another. The XML integration enables the parking garage's access control system to be integrated with OnPark, Brivo's new online Web service. The online reservation system can also be integrated to manage reservations and credentials for such common areas as spas and fitness centers.

Now, all rental agents use a common interface to assign parking, and guests receive a parking permit to display on their vehicles. Each permit has a microchip, which can be programmed remotely by the rental management agent. The chip can be programmed to contain a variety of data including the check in and check out dates corresponding exactly to their length of stay. And now the HOA has the capability to collect revenue for each parking space rented.

ACS5008-S Expanded OnSite Control Panel

The new ACS5008-S expandable OnSite control panel accommodates up to three expansion boards, double the capacity of the ACS5000-S. The ACS5008-EXP expansion chassis accommodates up to four additional boards.

The ACS5008-S is a slightly taller version of the ACS5000-S with additional knockouts and standoffs to accommodate three additional expansion boards. The ACS5008-S also ships with two batteries in order to provide the backup power required by the additional expansion boards. Other than these differences, specifications for the two are the same, so no new knowledge or training is needed for installation. The benefit is a smaller footprint—and less cost—than installing an ACS5000-S and an ACS5000-EXP to hold the same number of boards.

This new option for ACS OnSite and OnSite SE follows the ACS5008-E, Brivo's Expanded Ethernet Control Panel, available for ACS WebService. For details on all Brivo options, contact your Regional Sales Manager.

Brivo is excited to announce the release of our new OnSite SE Online Training Course. The new course is designed to educate installers on the installation, operation, and configuration of the OnSite SE product. The course is self–paced, allowing for flexibility of busy schedules while eliminating the expense of traveling and classroom participation.

The training course is available only to authorized Brivo dealers and is provided at no cost. To get started, complete the online registration form. After approval, you will receive a confirmation email that includes your registration details and login credentials.

Brivo Employee Spotlight – Erin Fisher

Erin Fisher joined Brivo this past summer as our Technical Writer, ensuring that our support documentation and administrators' manuals are up to date and available to our customers. Erin has also been working with the Brivo sales team to create a product-specific Architectural and Engineering Specifications guide, a resource that will provide a list of features each Brivo access control system has to offer. Creating the detailed, comprehensive guide is a large undertaking, and will help to ensure customer requirements are met.

In her free time, Erin writes, plays with her puppy, and travels at every opportunity.


Feature Spotlight - Badging

ACS WebService™ has integrated badging capabilities that allow the creation of customized badges that can be used for identification as well as access control purposes. Brivo currently offers the Magicard Rio 2e and Alto card printers.

Generating badges is a snap with the integrated badging interface. You can take pictures on the fly using the Logitech Orbit MP QuickCam®, or use existing images that are stored on your local PC. 

You can create badges using the existing standardized templates, or you can customize them with your company logo or other images. The ability to use a graphics file as part of a template means that you can create badges with virtually any type of background or image. This let you create highly customized badges for your organization, as well as different badges for different groups, such as color coding badges to identify visitors or different departments.
