Safeguarding high security areas, such
as labs and server rooms, as well as maintaining a safe environment
for employees can be burdensome for pharmaceutical security
personnel. Brivo's Online Access Control product line alleviates
those burdens.
- Eliminate key
management hassles. When employees leave, Brivo ACS
allows managers to simply revoke cards and PINs, making the
hassles of managing keys and re-keying locks a thing of the
past.
- Manage multiple
sites—labs, server rooms, documentation facilities,
manufacturing and packaging centers—all from a single centralized
system over the Web.
- DVR integration
gives administrators and security personnel the ability
to playback video clips instantly for any event in the activity
log. View clips for specific user events, doors and sites.
- Instant notifications
of alarms via email or SMS text messaging keep security
officers informed of system events like users trying to enter
unauthorized areas, temperature changes, and even power
outages.
- Lockdown
gives administrators the ability to revoke access
privileges from a large number of users for specific sites and
doors in the event of an emergency situation.
- No network or IT
resources required to run the system. All software
upgrades and system maintenance is performed by
Brivo.

Success Story
Sorenco
Laboratories, Salt Lake City, UT
Sorenco Laboratories is a worldwide,
full service contract manufacturer, packager and formulator of high
quality personal care, pharmaceutical, and nutritional products.
Prior to installing the Brivo solution, Sorenco maintained a
standard lock and key system.
Keys were used to access their
documentation control room, quality control rooms, warehouse and
production doors, administrative offices and "clean rooms"—sterile
rooms used for filling customers' products—all of which are
considered restricted areas. With too many people having been given
keys and with no reliable tracking system to know who had them, it
soon became apparent that an electronic access control solution was
needed.
Centurion Technologies, West Jordan,
Utah, was called in to install Brivo ACS in their Salt Lake City
facilities. Sorenco's Berk Ward, Director of Business Development,
HACCP & Safety, stated, "We had no control over who had
keys. It got to the point where people would allow access or be
given access to areas they shouldn't have had. With the Brivo
solution, we now have control over restricted areas." Sorenco is now
in their third phase of installation with 34 doors installed across
their site with up to 18 more doors to be installed in the next few
weeks. Ward continued to say, "It's great to be able to access my
account from the Internet. I can access the system from
anywhere—work, home or even on a business trip."

Introducing Brivo's OnSite
SE™
On September 10, Brivo was pleased to
announce the product launch of OnSite SE ("System Edition"). The
"big brother" to ACS OnSite™, OnSite SE is a powerful IT
appliance-based access control solution for organizations that
require their data to be maintained with in their own network. The
system uses a rack-mounted embedded Web platform capable of
provisioning and managing multiple networked control
panels.
The OnSite SE appliance increases
system capacity and range by using a dedicated controller that
manages multiple control panels on a corporate LAN, or across the
Internet, for multi-site configurations. OnSite SE supports up to
300 readers and 25,000 users, with a database capacity of up to
1,000,000 events.
With Brivo accepting orders for OnSite
SE for delivery starting in November, now you can have your own
private Brivo. Learn more about OnSite
SE.

Brivo Employee Spotlight – Bill
Ellifson
Bill Ellifson, Midwest Regional Sales
Manager, is based in Oak Creek, WI just south of
Milwaukee. Bill has been in the access control field since 1995
and joined Brivo July of 2006. Bill says, "It's been a great
opportunity to work for such an innovative company that is focused on our customers and
making them successful. I'm truly blessed to be a part of this
team."
Outside of work, Bill is busy with his
family. He's been married to his wife, Dawn, for 14
years. Together they have three sons, Robby, 11; DJ, 10; and
Benjamin, 8. All three are busy with baseball, football and
school. Bill enjoys coaching tournament baseball in the summer
and the occasional round of golf. "Running with the kids is a
full-time job on the weekends," says Bill. "My wife is the one
that holds it all together. And to top it off, she also has a
full-time job as a kindergarten teacher. I'm lucky to have three
great kids and a supportive wife."

Feature Spotlight - Creating Custom
Solutions Using Notifications and Reports
Brivo Online Access Control provides
reporting and notifications that can be set up to customize how the
system is used. Every organization has different requirements, and
the flexibility of Brivo's solutions let end-users create tools and
enable processes that meet—and exceed—those requirements. To
get started, a thorough understanding of the available options is
necessary:
- The Activity Report
is a customized query of the Activity Log, such as "All Access
Events by John Doe at Front Door on February 1" or "All Exception
Events at Server Room in the last month."
- The In/Out Report
allows you identify which users have gained credentialed access to
a site (In), and who amongst that group has subsequently used a
credential to leave the site (Out).
- Customized user reports
can be created in ACS WebService; the powerful but
easy-to-set options lets administrators query the database for
information related to a specific user.
- Notifications of
system events can be received by cell phone, email, or PDA.
Notifications can be access events, such as when a certain user
enters a specific door; exception events, such as a door propped
open; device events, such as when a motion sensor engages; a power
outage; or even a summary of activity from the previous
day.
Many Brivo users find these features to
be integral parts of their weekly and even daily routines. Here's
how a few end-users have programmed their systems:
- Clemson University's
Livestock Poultry Health Programs' system administrator
Mike Edwards was able to help "train" staff on their access
privileges. He used extensive reports of system activity along
with notifications that alert him to personnel acting outside
of privileges; the result is less frustration and time wasted by
employees unsure of where they can or can't go.
- Rocky Mountain Regional
Airport set up redundant alerts so that if a gate failure
occurs, email and text notifications are sent to the Operations
Manager and his staff, as well as to the 24-hour agent-on-duty's
cell phone, ensuring that all concerned parties receive the same
information at the same time and avoiding a time-consuming calling
tree to pass information along.
- In The Village of Hoffman
Estates, Illinois, administrators have programmed
their system to fulfill a number of critical functions. Staff
members receive a daily "exception report" that flags activity
needing investigation: propped or forced doors, unauthorized
access attempts, and repeated attempts for access by someone who
may actually need such access.
Visit our Solutions Web
page to see how other end-users have customized Brivo ACS to suit
their needs. For more information on how to set up Reporting and
Notifications, view our Administrator's
Guides page.
