Market Spotlight - Manufacturing

Manufacturing facilities can be an access control headache, with shifts of employees and contractors, round-the-clock deliveries, and multiple sites, buildings, warehouses, and outdoor enclosures. Brivo's system makes managing all of it simple:

  • Notifications by email or cell phone keep managers and security officers informed of system events like forced or propped doors, when users enter (or try to enter unauthorized areas), and even power outages.
  • DVR integration ties in the CCTV system, enabling live viewing as well as viewing of specific events.
  • Multiple locations can be managed from one centralized system, removing silos that make site visits and transfers an administrative hassle and time waster.
  • Temperature or other critical conditions can be monitored and controlled, and alerts can be received by email or cell phone for immediate action.
  • Limited security and IT resources are no longer an issue; Brivo's system is intuitive and easy to use, and our 24/7 geographically dispersed data centers keep your data secure—all backups, virus protection, and even the physical security of your data (from theft, hacking, fire, and more) are handled.
  • Flexible and intuitive administration means that defining parameters to manage complex systems for administrators, schedules, and group assignments is easy, takes less time, and is more accurate.

ACS OnSite System Edition Will Cover Multiple Sites

ACS OnSite has a new "big brother!" OnSite SETM expands the coverage of ACS OnSite by allowing multiple buildings and locations to be added to the system. ACS OnSite is single-site access control system, and can be used for a facility that houses more than one business. Ideally, it is suited for businesses that require data to be stored on site and have fewer than 30 doors.

OnSite SE supports up to 300 doors and can be used across multiple buildings. All the benefits of ACS OnSite are supported, including:

  • Event notification to email or cell phone
  • XML integration capabilities
  • Multi-level administration

OnSite SE is now in beta testing. If you are interested in the OnSite SE beta program or would like more information on OnSite SE, please contact your Brivo Regional Sales Manager.ACS5008-E

ACS5008 Expanded Ethernet Control Panel

The new ACS5008-E expandable Ethernet-based control panel accommodates up to three expansion boards, double the capacity of the ACS5000-E. The ACS5008-EXP expansion chassis accommodates up to four additional boards.

The ACS5008-E is just a slightly taller version of the ACS5000-E. The ACS5008 also ships with two batteries. Other than these differences, specifications for the two are the same, so no new knowledge or training is needed for installation. The benefit is a smaller footprint—and less cost—than installing two ACS5000s to hold the same number of boards. For details, contact your Regional Sales Manager.

XML Webinar Draws Many Attendees

More than fifty attendees participated in a June webinar hosted by Brivo President and COO Steve Van Till. The webinar was an overview of the XML technology that enables integration between Brivo Access Control Systems and other enterprise systems. One example often cited is tying an HR system to the access control system; new employees are automatically assigned the correct privileges, and terminated employees' credentials are revoked immediately.

The webinar expanded on examples by citing several actual projects, including a hospitality solution that ties parking garage access to a national reservation system and a real estate system enabling kiosk users to obtain PINs to enter show properties. You can view the webinar by accessing the link on Brivo's home page under News & Events.

Brivo Employee Spotlight – Matthew Mauriello

Matt has been with Brivo for just over a year and a half, joining us shortly after receiving his degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, where he was also active in performing arts production. Before working for Brivo, Matt was installing Matt Mauriellomultimedia systems for conference and convention use, and drew on that experience to head Brivo's Technical Support team. Since then he has helped to ensure the quality of the products from an electrical and mechanical standpoint, as well as being very involved in IT maintenance and growth. Matt is the recipient of the 2006 Brivo Bravo award, recognizing special achievement and outstanding customer service.

Outside of work Matt enjoys music festivals, racquetball, and world travel.

Feature Spotlight - Elevator Control

Brivo makes adding and managing elevators easy and intuitive—just like the rest of the system. Elevators are added from the Sites/Doors tab. Under the Control Panels section, you add the elevator to the appropriate control panel. Then select the sites and the card reader associated with it.

The Sites/Doors tab is also where floors are added. Select the correct site, and add each floor, specifying a name, associating an elevator, and assigning a schedule.

Elevators can be shared by multiple sites, but different floors are administered separately. Elevator control is currently available on ACS WebService. It will be part of OnSite SE when it launches and will concurrently be added to ACS OnSite.

Learn more about Elevator Control in the ACS WebService Administrator's Guide, available under Technical Support on the Brivo website.
