Market Spotlight - General Aviation Airports

ACS WebService is a great fit for airports. Wireless control panels mean no trenching is needed, and the centralized hosted application lets airport managers focus on running the airport, not IT systems.

  • No trenching costs. Wireless control panels link perimeter gates and remote facilities without costly network trenching.
  • Email notifications keep airport managers, guards, and even local police, informed for fast response in the event of a security breach.
  • No on-site IT resources or personnel are needed.
  • Lockdown revokes access privileges on a moments notice to ensure control during an emergency.

Read more about how well Brivo can work for airports.

Success Story
Santa Monica Municipal Airport

Santa Monica Airport, one of the busiest single-runway airports in the nation, covers 227 acres which are surrounded by fencing and eight access gates. Access codes were previously used for entry, but they are too easy to share, and the system couldn't report on when or by whom the gates were accessed.

Ron Lander, president of Ultrasafe Security in Norco, California, proposed Brivo to meet two of the larger challenges: remote gates without network infrastructure and minimal IT resources to support on-site software and computer equipment.

Brivo fit the bill. No on-site software or servers, or even a dedicated PC, are needed. Wireless control panels saved the airport over $100,000 in trenching and installation costs. All gates and doors can be managed from any Web browser, and email notifications of events keeps airport security informed. Today's security realities demand such oversight and flexibility, and Brivo delivers.

New Account Password Processes Increase Security

In order to increase information security, Brivo has implemented the first phase of a new process for account password creation.

The change occurs when creating an account for the first time. As before, the account creator will be prompted to enter an account name and contact information for the Master Administrator, which includes an email address. For increased information security, the system will now automatically generate a temporary password for the Master Administrator and send it to the email address that was entered.

This is a significant change. The Master Administrator must access the new account and change the password within 2 days, or the password will expire. If this happens, contact Brivo Technical Support to have a new temporary password sent; call (866) 274-8648, Option 3.

Phase 2 of the process change will provide the ability to establish an "installation account." This way, the installer can complete the account setup prior to the Master Administrator receiving any login information. When installation is complete, the installer sends the login information to the Master Administrator. In addition, the ability to set an expiration date on the installation account ensures that the customer retains exclusive access to their Brivo account. Phase 2 is expected to be complete within a month.

Brivo Employee Spotlight – Christophe Santini

Our dealers don't often get the chance to meet the Brivo folks who are the backbone of our offerings. Christophe Santini is a software engineer who has been with Brivo for two years this month. Christophe implemented and now maintains the 60 custom fields in ACS WebService and is responsible for new reporting systems, as well as general maintenance on the ACS codebase that keeps things running smoothly.

Of how he spends his free time, Christophe says, "basketball, biking, piano, occasionally assisting in the production of independent films."

Feature Spotlight - Lockdown
Lockdown allows an Administrator to revoke access privileges from a large number of users and may be activated on a site or group-level basis. Lockdown overrides all schedules, holidays, and timers, which return to normal settings when Lockdown is de-activated.

Being able to lock down a facility in the event of an emergency is a feature essential to many customers, including:

  • Childcare facilities
  • Property managers
  • Airports
  • Education institutions
  • Commercial sites

Learn more about Lockdown in the ACS WebService Administrator's Guide, available under Technical Support on the Brivo website.
