Brivo Announces Upgraded Appliance-based Access Control Solution

Scalable platform with unmatched data security, flexible licensing options

Bethesda, MD, March 24, 2010 – Brivo Systems LLC, the leader in Software as a Service applications for security management, today announced the successor to its current Onsite SE/XE appliance-based systems: OnSite Aparato. Aparato is officially scheduled for release in May 2010 and will be on display at ISC West, 24-26 April.

OnSite Aparato is a full-featured appliance-based access control platform with unmatched built-in security features. With a capacity of up to 1,000 readers and half a million active card holders, Aparato’s scalable licensing model allows customers to start with a small system, scale up as needs grow, and add capabilities in an à la carte manner.

What’s more, all user data saved in the Aparato system is fully secure due to its use of a Trusted Platform Module (TPM), compliant with ISO Standard 11889. The TPM, standard in every system, is a hardware-backed software integrity verification function with fully encrypted data storage, employing the government’s Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) 256, which enhances security and ensures data is safe from both software attacks and physical theft. The TPM also guards against unauthorized modification of application software, provides tamper detection, and simplifies software upgrades by eliminating tokens and other peripheral security measures.

“What really makes Aparato stand out is the TPM feature,” said John Szczygiel, Brivo’s Executive Vice President. “The system’s TPM and PIVCheck software integration means Aparato will be a very attractive choice for government agencies looking for HSPD-12, FIPS 201, and FIPS 140-2 compliance.”

Robust and feature-rich, Aparato offers fully integrated badging, notifications, threat level lockdown, graphic maps, and more. From elevator control to video integration, Aparato provides the tools users demand in a comprehensive security management system—including the ability for secure, automated back-ups.

In order for current OnSite SE/XE customers to take advantage of the new features and capabilities of Aparato, existing SE and XE hardware and software must be upgraded to Aparato. Brivo has simplified this process by making the back-up files of SE and XE compatible with Aparato, and Brivo is also offering upgrade credits toward the purchase of a new Aparato system.
