ADT Introduces Industry's First Web-Hosted Access Control System
ADT Select Entry sets new standard for multi-location facility management
BOCA RATON, Fla., March 5, 2003 — ADT Security Services, Inc., a unit of Tyco International's Fire & Security Division, today announced the availability of ADT Select Entry, the industry's first web-hosted access control service that is ideal for companies with geographically dispersed facilities.
ADT Select Entry, powered by technology from Brivo Systems, Inc., allows companies to securely manage physical access to multiple locations regardless of where the facilities or administrators are located. Because ADT Select Entry is a hosted service with the access control software and database residing at a remote, central server, it requires no on-site computer, special software, network wiring or IT involvement. It uses wide-area system architecture to link building doors to the central data center.
Access control panels, connected to the central data center via wireless wide-area networking, allow authorized personnel at each facility to access specified doors or gates. The application is then made available to authorized administrators over the Web allowing remote management of all access points at each facility.
Jamie Rosand, vice president of commercial marketing for ADT Security Services, Inc., said ADT Select Entry is ideal for applications where on-site management is unavailable to administer the system, such as in retail stores. Typically, retail stores need to re-key facilities an average of twice a year due to employee or management turnover. Using a centrally controlled access control system, access to the store can be immediately denied to these individuals, thus providing a more secure environment for store personnel and reducing the likelihood of theft, vandalism or sabotage to inventory and property.
"On average a store location will spend $1,500 per year to re-key a store," Rosand said. "If a retailer has numerous locations, this cost can really begin to add up. With ADT Select Entry, managers no longer need to worry about issuing and collecting keys. An employee's badge can be activated or deactivated remotely at any time."
A hosted access control system also provides company management with an audit trail, tracking individual movements to and from sensitive areas such as cash rooms, pharmacies, warehouses and shipping docks.
"ADT offers a breadth of products and services to provide access control solutions for virtually any size installation," Rosand said. "We can provide the right systems for a wide variety of applications, from a single door office to a multinational operation with thousands of access cards and readers."
ADT Select Entry is available from ADT Security Services, Inc., nationwide.
